" Scotland Delineated in a Series of Views ... by John Parker Lawson, M.A. "
A series of large fine lithographs by F.D.Harding, Carrick, Cauci, Needham &c. after pictures by Turner, Stanfield, Sir W.Allan, Cattermole, Leitch, Creswick, David Roberts, J.D.Harding &c.
Published by E.Gambart in London and Edinburgh, 1849 - 1854. Lithographed by Day and Son.
These very fine stone lithographs all come
from the first volume of the above scarce work. All are on very large
(elephant) folio sheets measuring 24 x 17 inches (61 x 43 cms). The actual
image size varies and most are multi-plate tinted lithos.
Of particular
interest many of the plates are signed by the artist or lithographer in pencil
below the image, several others carry printed 'signed on the stone'
signatures below the image. Very few volumes with plates signed in this way
were published.
All these lithographs are offered in original condition, without any cleaning or hand colouring. Therefore they may display very slight age browning or soiling. Any serious defects are noted. (It is probable that the prints can be cleaned, removing the dampstaining that affects some of the pencil signatures
(The images of any prints sold will remain on my site for a while as an image resource)
